Each spring, Downtown Brooklyn’s neighborhoods come alive with the arts. New exhibitions, theater, and dance premieres take the stage; music and literary events fill calendars; emerging talent is showcased in recitals and public presentations; and benefit events celebrate artists and supporters while raising vital funds. It’s an ideal time to discover—and deepen your connection to—the diverse artists and organizations that call Downtown Brooklyn home.

Our Third Annual Arts Month May + June calendar features over 150 unique arts offerings presented by the 60+ nonprofit arts organizations who are members of Downtown Brooklyn Arts Alliance. From the joyous to the contemplative, their work reflects the many ways the arts ground us in our humanity while knitting us together as a community.

We hope you’ll join us in spending time with the arts in the months ahead—and in supporting the vibrant local arts community that makes it all possible.

Arts Month May + June is presented by Downtown Brooklyn Arts Alliance (DBAA), a grassroots membership organization bringing together local non-profit arts and cultural organizations to strengthen cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural relationships and organize collaborative initiatives that increase participation and support for the arts locally and beyond. Our programs include professional development events for arts administrators as well as networking and advocacy activities designed to strengthen the management of arts organizations and increase community impact. DBAA Membership is open to all non-profit organizations with a primary focus on arts or culture located in Downtown Brooklyn and adjacent neighborhoods.

Collectively, DBAA member organizations serve over 5 million people each year, employ nearly 4,000 workers, and generate over $200 million in annual economic impact.
